Eðvaldsdóttir Plays Shostakovich
Finnsk-rússnesk veisla
Conductor Pietari Inkinen was passionately received by both the audience and musicians of the orchestra when he appeared with the ISO in 2010, and he was re-invited on the spot. Sibelius's second symphony is his most popular, and with good reason. During the spring of 1900 he resided in Italy where he fashioned its magical and joyful sound. Sigrún Eðvaldsdóttir is the concertmaster of the Iceland Symphony, and one of Iceland's most beloved and passionate musicians. Shostakovich's First Violin Concerto is one of the 20th century's top concertos, despite being written during a very harsh period in the life of the composer.
