Caterina Compagno

Caterina started playing flute at the age of 5. She then studied in the Conservatory of Florence (bachelor) and at the Conservatory of Milan, where she graduated with a Piccolo Master with Nicola Mazzanti. She later moved to Zürich, Switzerland and studied at the Zürcher Hochschule der Künste where she obtained two Master's degrees: the Master in Specialized Music Performance - Orchestra with Matthias Ziegler and the second one, Master in Music Pedagogy, with Sabine Poyé Morel and studied piccolo with Pamela Stahel and Haika Lübke. 

 Caterina played with many major orchestras in Italy, Switzerland, Belgium and the UK. Among others Opernhaus Zürich (where she did a Praktikum and substituted for three years), Scottish Chamber Orchestra, Orchestra Regionale della Toscana, Flemish Chamber Orchestra and Camerata Strumentale di Prato. In september 2025 she won the audition for 3rd flute and piccolo at the Iceland Symphony Orchestra. Winner of several scholarships, Caterina had masterclasses with Emmanuel Pahud, Michael Kofler, Emily Beynon, Davide Formisano, Andrea Oliva and many others for flute and Peter Verhoyen, Natalie Schwaabe, Gudrun Hinze and others for piccolo. 

 Caterina plays a Brannen silver flute with a 19K/14K Brannen headjoint and a piccolo Burkart Élite.
