Asbjørn Ibsen Bruun

Asbjørn Ibsen Bruun was born in 1993 in Denmark. He studied at the Royal Danish Academy of Music in Copenhagen under professor Thomas Kjellden. After three years of study he was admitted to the Anton Bruckner Privatuniversität in Linz under professor Raimund Zell where he finished his studies in 2017 with highest honours.

 As a student Asbjørn Ibsen Bruun played solo horn for 4 years with the Gustav Mahler Jugendorchester which took him on tours throughout Europe with conductors such as Herbert Blomstedt, Christoph Eschenbach, Philippe Jordan and Jonathan Nott.

Asbjørn is a sought after guest in the most prominent Scandinavian symphony orchestras including Oslo Philharmonic, Royal Stockholm Philharmonic, Bergen Philharmonic, Royal Danish Orchestra, Copenhagen Phil, Aarhus Symphony et al.

 Asbjørn has held the permanent position of tutti low horn in Aalborg Symphony Orchestra from september 2017 until he started his job with Sinfó in the season 2018-19. He is also an avid chamber musician, and is the principal horn and board member of Alma Mahler Kammerorchester. He also teaches at Lístaháskoli Íslands and has done numerous masterclasses abroad.
